This year, the Peterborough Fire & Rescue Service has applied to the PFRA for a grant to fund three items which will increase the level of prompt and quality service provided to the surrounding area community:

1. Professional training for the department’s newly acquired Thermal Imaging Camera. By detecting heat sources, this piece of equipment locates fires in walls, and more importantly, victims not visible due to thick smoke or missing at the scene of an accident.

2. A new turbo draft attachment, which allows water to be drafted out of a pond otherwise too far away to utilize. One person can deploy approximately 750 gallons of water a minute.
3. A blitz nozzle, which is a quick deploy hand line hose that does not need to be manned. Without a blitz nozzle, a hose has to be held by one or two personnel. With a blitz nozzle, necessary manpower can be utilized elsewhere.

Showing your support of the “Our Town” Annual Ball, allows the PFRA to continue their mission of “supporting the members of the department as well as the citizens of Peterborough and surrounding communities.”
