Teens 14 years and older interested in emergency services, are invited to join the Peterborough Fire & Rescue Explorer post.

Explorers is an opportunity for teens to explore careers prior to graduating High School.

Fire & EMS Exploring offers the following benefits:

• Fun and Exciting “hands-on” career experiences
• Community service opportunities
• College & Career Readiness preparation

Explorers are welcomed at all department trainings, and often do additional training on their own. Many members of the Explorer Post have gone on to have successful careers in Emergency Services, having careers as Firefighters, Paramedics, Emergency Dispatchers, and Police Officers. In addition, many of our Explorers continue to call PFR home and remain as members of the department for many years to come.

When does the Explorer post meet?

The Explorer post regularly meets on Monday nights at 6:30pm, which is also the department meeting and training time. The post may additionally meet at other times for fundraising, specific trainings, or meetings as communicated by the advisor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Explorers are welcomed and encouraged to attend all department trainings, meetings, and events. Typically, these are held on Monday nights at 6:30 PM. In addition, there may be additional times the explorers meet independently for special trainings, fundraisers, or meetings.

How much does it cost to join?

There is a $45 annual fee which is paid. This fee is required by the Exploring program.
