Christmas trees are involved in about 300 fires
annually. This results
in an average of 20 deaths, 40 injuries and about $8 million in
property
damage and loss. In addition, there are nearly 15,000 candle-related
fires each year, which result in 170 deaths and $327 million in
property loss.

Firefighter Bill Sweet demonstrates our Hydraulic Rescue Tools. PFR responds to over 60 accidents per year, many requiring the use of these tools. Rapid extrication improves the outcome in most accidents. Several of these tools have been purchased through generous donations. PFR's current fund raising appeal letter can be viewed here.

That equates to 3.2 calls per day, 365 days per year! PFR is the second busiest department in the 79 town mutual aid district which includes the communities in the Monadnock region and those in southwestern New Hampshire and eastern portion of Vermont.
